The OStatus project is a social networking platform written in PHP and Javascript. Federation with Mastodon, Friendica, and other federated platforms is accomplished through the OStatus protocol and ActivityPub.
The project was created in response to Friendica's numberous bugs at the time which made the larger software virtually unusable. OStatus was designed to be minimal and simplistic, yet still powerful enough to be useful.
The project is named for the OStatus protocol which was all that it initially supported in the early days.
Features
Standard social platform features such as posts, comments, likes, and sharing are implemented, and federate throughout the network.
OStatus nodes also feature live chat, and other optional features such as live streaming.
License
OStatus is not currently licensed for public use. We are working towards an eventual public release.
